Surface controls
BOP control systems for land and offshore drilling, rooted in the Type 80 equipment lineage.
Define the duty
A surface control system brings together stored hydraulic energy, pumping equipment and operator interfaces. The engineering conversation starts with the installed BOP equipment, the intended operating environment and the documentation that describes the required functions. Interface definition is as important as the individual components.
Connect the interfaces
Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical interfaces need a consistent basis of design. Equipment identification, accessible maintenance points and a controlled document set help the different disciplines work from the same information. Acceptance criteria should be agreed before fabrication begins.
Support the lifecycle
Inspection, service records and configuration control preserve the relationship between the delivered equipment and its documentation. A modification should be reviewed against the complete system rather than treated as a like-for-like purchase without context.
